9 Daily Routine Tips For Success

Do You Brush Your Teeth? Read Why This is Important!

You probably think the question I asked here is rather silly.

Most people brush their teeth and do so daily. However, think about why you brush your teeth. You didn’t come out of the womb doing so, did you? It took time and painstaking reminders from your parents. They did this each morning and night before you went to bed.

At this point, you don’t even think about the action. It has become a natural part of your life that it’s an automated response. In fact, you likely feel something is missing when you don’t have the opportunity to brush.

When you apply this concept of repetition, you see how it can be applied to more important tasks in your life. The next time you are looking to accomplish a goal, think about the goal while brushing your teeth. This will help you reinforce the concept.

Checkup

It May Be Time for a ‘Routine’ Checkup

Do you analyze your routines from time-to-time to make sure they align with your goals?

This is something you should consider doing. People often make the mistake of writing down daily tasks on their to-do list spontaneously, with little regard to how these tasks fit within the confines of a goal or plan.

Set aside a day each quarter to evaluate how your daily tasks are helping (or not) in meeting your long-term objectives. You have to be a bit hard on yourself when going through this evaluation. Sometimes, you won’t know until you have been trying certain tasks for a period. However, by being critical of your processes, you can remove the ones that aren’t working towards those longer-term goals.

How Being Disciplined Can Make You More Money

Your company hasn’t given you a decent (if any) raise in several years.

Bonuses are a mere memory of days past. Most people want to increase their income but often fall short. The answer is they may not have the discipline to earn more money.

This has little to do with your work or trying to hit your boss up for a raise. Companies have gotten into this nasty habit of not doling out raises, all while top management continues to increase payouts for themselves. There isn’t much you can do about that these days.

But, you can do something about increasing your income. You can create a side business that has the potential to earn a good amount of cash. In fact, people are replacing their main jobs with these side businesses.

What does this have to do with discipline? If you don’t have the discipline to do the necessary work, you won’t likely accomplish your goal of earning from your side business. The answer to getting that discipline is to create routines that you follow every day and on weekends, etc.

Are Your Routines Balanced?

Balance is so important in life, and this is especially true with routines.

It has to do with the effort you put in along with making sure you don’t do too much of one thing while neglecting other aspects of your life.

To give you some insight, suppose you love to go to the gym. You are dedicated and have been able to get here at least four times per week. That’s great.

However, what happens when you get home from the gym and open the pantry closet? You overeat on junk food, effectively negating any gains you received from your workout.

There’s nothing wrong with an occasional junk food snack. If you eat healthy most other times during the week, having a small snack that isn’t as healthy won’t do any harm. However, when your post-workout consists of only junk food, you aren’t doing yourself any favors.

Keep your routines balanced, and you won’t have to worry about any of this.

Use Your Favorite Time of Day Effectively

Everyone should be a morning person, right?

Wrong! Each person has a different optimal time of day. Some people are morning people. They are the ones that have little trouble bouncing out of bed even before the alarm rings. Others do their best work in the evening or at least, not in the morning.

It’s likely you already know your optimal time. If you hit the snooze button more than a few times each morning, you can rule yourself out as being a morning person. Perhaps you stay up late and feel the most productive during those later hours.

The point is, save your most challenging work for your optimal time and get as much of your work done during that period.

Deviate from Your Routines Occasionally

There’s no doubt that having daily routines help people be more productive.

Higher productivity leads to better success in life, all equal. However, sometimes you have to break away from your routines and bring on the spontaneity.

People aren’t robots, and they need a release from their normal routines. This is why companies are now encouraging their workers to take vacations. And, you should take the time when you have it. You can use one or two days to do nothing on your vacation. But, use the rest of the time to do something you wouldn’t normally do. Without a break in routine, you can fall into a rut that is difficult to break.

Grown Up Dreams

What Do You Want to Be When You Grow Up?

I am sure you remember being asked that question a gazillion times as a kid. You probably had a canned response ready whenever an adult decided to spring the question on you.

Now that you are an adult, are you doing what you said you would?

It’s okay if you aren’t. Most people are doing something entirely different. But, is what you are doing something you enjoy? If the answer is no, you need to take some time to figure out what you want in life.

It’s difficult to come up with daily routines without a solid answer to this question. You should brainstorm ideas and drill down until you find what you have a burning desire to do.

Debt Is a Burden on Your Life

You may be wondering what this has to do with daily routines. Debt is something that can weigh you down and drag your ability to accomplish your goals. If your finances are out of control, they will consume all your energy, and you’ll find it difficult to get ahead.

You can use routines to get out of debt.

You need to create a plan that will get you out of the financial mess you are in, and then set up routines that you stick to completely. Without such a plan, you will find it difficult to reverse the situation.

Cut back on spending and use the credit cards less (if at all). Create a budget and stick to it. You will start to see the debt decrease which will free your mind to concentrate on more important goals.

Are You Ready to Implement Your Routines for Success?

Hopefully you have put these techniques to use and are ready to create a solid plan with daily routines that will help accomplish that plan. Read this again, to reinforce the ideas.

On your journey, you may break away from your routines on occasion.

If that happens, don’t beat yourself up.

Start where you left off. Don’t let it go for too long, however. Keep focused on your longer-term goals. When you do, it will help you realize why you are doing the short-term tasks or goals.

It’s like a ship that veers off course. The captain knows she has to adjust to get back on course. She has a destination in mind, and that is what helps her power through to make the needed adjustments.

You are well on your way to succeed when you put these techniques into action.
