Why Is Living Your Passion The Most Stupid Advice I Always Hear?
It’s not really the advice that I have a problem with (I know terrible grammar).
But the depiction of your ideal passionate lifestyle.

Whenever you come across someone trying to sell you something, they always depict the end result of your purchase being an ideallic life at the beach.
Images of you strolling through the sand, the warm water lapping at your feet, with the warm sun beating down on you. The breeze gently wafting through your hair (for those of you that still have hair LOL) whilst some happy birds are twittering away in the nearby palm trees, lush with ripe coconuts.
OR
There you are, astride a magnificent white Arabian stallion, cantering through the luscious green countryside, with the distant mist covered mountains clearly your destination. Your trusted pack of hounds at your side, with the autumn leaves drifting off the trees onto your path.
OR
You are sipping Margarita’s through colorful straws in pineapple ring adorned glasses. Relaxing on a deck chair on your yacht, as it slowly glides past the above described ideallic beach. You watch some scantily clad teens frolic in the nearby surf, as the wait staff hand you another plate of some exotic delicacy. The sky is blue, only a wisp of a cloud, not a raindrop in sight.
All Bullshit – excuse my language.
The above is not a lifestyle, its called a holiday.
I can assure you that living like that on a day to day basis would make most people extremely unhappy. They would feel unfulfilled and empty. And no amount of luxury would fill that gap.
Don’t get me wrong. A week or two of that lifestyle every so often is great for recharging your batteries and giving you a new zest for life.
BUT
Although I had a holiday just a little while ago, I am now back, doing what I really enjoy doing.
As I sit here typing this, it is 7:30 in the morning.
I have already been for a brisk walk in the early morning clean air. Taken the dog for a little stretch.
When I got back, made myself a green smoothie (more about that elsewhere) some light breakfast and had a shower.
I put on some comfy “ work clothes” and set down to write. My work clothes usually consist of a pair of jeans and a loose fitting T shirt. When its slightly colder, I sling on a flannel Track suit jacket.
Fired up my computer, checked that I had earned some income during the night (due to previous work done) paid a quick bill online and then started this masterpiece ( just kidding – or am I )?
Anyway. I am doing what I enjoy.
When I have finished writing in about an hour or so, after editing and hopefully catching some glaring errors, I will publish this.
Then it’s off to town, to get a new…. err. I forgot. But I had already been told twice and can’t ask again, so I will just wing it as best I can.
In town, we will likely have a late lunch.
There will of course be something that we definitely must do while we are out! It will cost me some money, be something I never even thought we needed, maybe even knew existed, but is now paramount to our future existence on this planet!
Later this afternoon, I will rewire a small section of my workshop – kidding, just gluing an extension cable to get out the way, so I can use my drilling machine in the other corner without killing myself every time I cross the room and tripping over the cable.
After that, I might just fix that lamp that I promised to repair since Christmas, Err Christmas 2 years ago. It;’s now actually in my way for my latest project, so has become urgent.
As you can see, my life is full of luxurious beach walks and spending time on my yacht. NOT
Even though I did do something very similar a few weeks ago.
I do however enjoy what I do on a day to day basis. I will work on a project that I am passionate about later this evening, after having spent some quality time over supper with people dear to me.
This is to me the ideal lifestyle. My Passionate lifestyle!
Am I passionate about it? Hell yeah.
I do take the exotic holidays. But after about 10 days, I just want to get home. To my ideal life.
I will hopefully be there for the people important in my life.
And if in some small way any of this is helpful to you, that would be great
My day is my own
My life is my own.
The thing is, I had to do the original leg work, to get me here.
It wasn’t always easy. It wasn’t a straight and narrow path. There was some pain involved. Disappointment, setback.
All the stuff, that stops most people from ever even enjoying the holidays I described. Let alone getting to live the meaningful life they aspire to.
So what is the secret?
There isn’t ONE secret.
It’s a combination of the correct thought processes, mental attitudes and taking action.
You likely have come across all sort’s of methods, courses, latest discoveries that will “instantly” transform you and lead you to a life of happiness and riches.
Most of them only led the originators to a life of riches. Very few of them ever help you long-term.
Sure they work for some people, and they are the testimonials. On the sales blurb.
Likely, those people would have got the same results pretty soon all by themselves.
I am not knocking these products. I bought enough – nay too many of them.
If just one idea gets you in the right direction, pushed you over the edge, they are worth it.
As for the whole answer, not that often.
Use some common sense. Do what you know is right. Learn from your mistakes.
Don’t pin your life and happiness on something external to you. Take responsibility.
Anyway, I hope to have at least activated your curiosity.
Live passionately.
